Daylight Souls in the Urban Garden

The painting builds into the idea of a garden of interconnected anatomic body parts where limbs, faces and organs are linked under the daylight with knees and elbows that keep us apart and legs, arms and hands that hold us together.

Daylight Souls in the Urban Garden

Oil on canvas / 120 x 160 cms / 2014-2022

A slow process

It all begins with an idea of overlapping the Urban Bodies characters as plain colour figures until the figures start sharing body parts and the resulting image does not allow to identify a single figure. The playful combination of body parts and the opacity that oil paint allows in the process contribute to a semi abstract semi figurative artwork. Made out of four canvases, the long drying process and other commitments extended the completion of this piece, which finally took seven long years.
